It was a <span class="caps">HIT</span> at our place. You can purchase an already made flatbread crust, or make from scratch like I did. Use whatever greens and fresh veggies you like&#8230;be creative!</p>

<p>French toast &#8211; serve with fruit, bacon or sausage, grits, and coffee &#8211; all available from Market2Go and/or the Saturday Main Street Market.</p> <p>Tips &amp; Notes<br /> This dish is a great way to use up bread that&#8217;s beginning to go stale.</p> <p>The recipe can be found in the <a href="" target="_blank"><strong>Apicius</strong></a>, a collection of recipes dating back to Imperial Roman times, where it is described as aliter dulcia (another sweet dish). The recipe says to slice bread, crust removed, and break it into large pieces. Soak these pieces in milk and beaten egg, fry in oil, and cover with honey before serving.</p>
