Keema Matar (Indian ground beef curry with peas)

Serves: Feeds a small family for 3 days- the leftovers get better and better each day! (:


Ingredients
9 Tbsp oil for sautéing
3 tsp cumin seeds
1 large onion, chopped
1/4 cup minced garlic paste
3 inches fresh ginger, peeled, and minced
3 pounds Green Family Farm's ground beef
2 14.5oz cans petite diced tomato
1 bunch green chili peppers, and fresh curry leaves
1/4 cup whole milk greek yogurt
3 tsp coriander powder
1.5 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp red chili powder
1 Tbsp himalayan pink salt
3 cups frozen green peas, thawed
1 tsp garam masala powder
1 bunch cilantro, chopped
. . garnish w/ extra cilantro, lime wedge, and/or greek yogurt

Step by Step Instructions
  1. Sauté the onion and cumin seeds in the oil. Add in the garlic and ginger, and continue cooking for 1 minute.
  2. Add the ground beef, and cook fully.
  3. Next, add the tomatoes, peppers, curry leaves, yogurt, coriander, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. To finish, add the peas, cilantro, and garam masala powder, and simmer a few more minutes.
  5. Serve with rice or bread, and garnish with extra cilantro, lime wedge, and/or more greek yogurt!
