Sweet and Spicy Satsuma Turkey

Ingredients
3 cups Red onion (thinly sliced)
3/4 cup Slightly sweet white wine
2/3 cup Fresh orange juice (2 oranges)
1/3 cup Orange marmalade
2 teaspoons Tamarind paste
1/2 teaspoon Crushed red pepper
3 3/4 pounds Turkey thighs (bone-in & skinned)
2 teaspoons 5-spice powder
1 teaspoon Salt
1 tablespoon Canola oil
2 cups Satsuma sections ( 7 satsumas)
1 1/2 tablespoons Cornstarch
Sliced green onions
Cooked rice for serving

Step by Step Instructions
  1. Combine the onion, white wine, orange juice, marmalade, tamarind paste, and crushed red pepper in a 5-quart slow cooker.
  2. Rinse the turkey and pat it dry, then sprinkle it with 5-spice powder & salt. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium high heat and add the oil. Cook the turkey for 3 or 4 minutes on each side.
  3. Place the turkey in a single layer over the onion mixture in the slow-cooker. Add the satsuma sections, then cover and cook on low for 4 hours.
  4. Remove the turkey from the cooker and discard the bones. Place the onion mixture & satsuma sections into a saucepan.
  5. Combine 1/4 cup of the onion mixture with the cornstarch, then whisk them together. Stir the cornstarch mixture in with the contents of the saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly for 1 minute.
  6. Serve the turkey with sauce, rice, and sliced green onions.
